NEPAL Himalayan country boast , home of one horned rhino and recently to maximize the count of tigers in Nepal. Nepal has several wildlife and national reserve for tours. Among all the famous and claimed are

 

 Chitwan National park is home of rare and endangered species  of One Horned Rhino.   Chitwan National park was established in 1973 and later in the  year 1984 designated as world heritage site. This is the first of its kind in Nepal. 20 Minutes flights or 4-5 HRS drive from Capital can take you to homeland of one horned rhinos. Supported by numerous species of  bird and other wild animals. If one is lucky enough , can get encounter with the Royal Bengal tiger during the jeep safaris or Elephant ride.

 

The early morning wake-up calls by the birds chirping will entice your energy  for jungle safari on the open hood vintage 4×4 coupled by experienced local guides. A make shift canoe ride along the rapti river bed with view of giant alligator and crocs sunbathing will give you goose bumps.  A trip to elephant breeding center on ox cart (Subject to availability) will amuse you. One can see and get close range view of baby elephant spending quality time with adults. And walk through the Tharu settlement , the original inhabitants of the range will share light of culture and society .

 

Chitwan wildlife area not only shelter wildlife. Birds of various species have made it a home. Great hornbill. Vulture ,Eagles, Kingfisher are few to name and if you spent two to three nights list sure will be longer .

 

Next exciting wildlife sanctuary lies western part of Nepal Popularly known as Bardiya National Park. One has to reach Nepalgunj (By flight 1 HR then a drive to Bardiya ) or take long drive of 10-12 HRS and arrive the destination.

 

The largest and lightly populated was established in 1988 . Karnali and Babai rivers are close to the park. This park is territories by the Royal Begal tiger and recently the number has increased significantly as Nepal government has set up stringent plan and security along the area to demoralize the poachers. One horn rhino crossing the jeep safari and giving way to travelling  wild elephants are regular features of the safaris. More people are getting luckier nowadays as they meet tigers quite often roaming on their vicinities. The tall grass and  dense forest is supporting wildlife to flourish and birds to nurture their off springs.

 

Karnali river the longest in the country is also a home for rarely spotted dolphins.
